Small Medium or Psychic?

As many of you know if I have a burning question about spook most of the time I will ask P or Arty, especially if it is a serious question!  A while ago P explained the difference between psychic and medium. I included what she said in 'Don't Blame God' but thought I might share it here as it is a question I am often asked.  We all communicate and interact with spirit in different ways, but what P is talking about here is the connection, not what we do with the information that comes from it which is a whole 'nother subject! 

She explained that ‘psychic’ and ‘medium’ are two different things. Psychic through meditation or ‘clearing our minds’, just removes conscious clutter to allow for a peek into the unconscious energy, but as we remain bodily conscious during meditation it has its limits. Some psychics will be able to answer questions directly and others can only give what they get in a rather more haphazard way. Many will say “I give what I get and if it’s not what you want it’s because it’s not important or relevant” that is actually not true; what the statement should be according to P is, “I will give what I get but if it isn’t what you want, it’s because I can’t get it!”  She assures me they are all there if required and all of the answers we want are accessible to us, it is the strength or the crackle in the receiver’s communication that is our responsibility to bear, they can communicate just fine thank you very much!

Psychic readers are sensitive to the energy surrounding the client and not necessarily the energy of another in spirit. A psychic might say “I feel there is something nice coming to you, maybe a gift or a surprise” because that is what they ‘feel around us,’ floating in the past and future flotsam and jetsam of our energetic path; psychics are ‘interpreters of the energetic language.’ They may say, “I can see a flower, someone is going to give you a flower,” but again that is what is in the energetic path of the person sitting in front of them and not given by a spirit per se, it’s just there to be seen. Psychic is not so much about connecting directly with the other side it’s more like delving into our own energy and decoding what’s there. P tells me that those with psychic ability can see those where she is only if they are within the energy of the sitter, whereas a medium has a much longer range radar.

P added to her statement, “It’s the way you are wired,” by explaining that our wiring is evolving at subtly different and individual speeds. Many readers will say “I am a fourth generation psychic” and that is because over those four generations the wiring to create the charge has been recognised, used and improved, in the same way that we exercise to become more fit. P also revealed that in life, although she was a bit of a ‘psychic junkie’ herself, she was actually very well connected to the Others. This was unfortunately something she didn’t realise until she passed over! She mischievously quipped, “Dammit darling! I wasted all that money, when I could have done it myself!” Who knows she could well have been the first John Edward! I think she secretly has a thing for him, you know!

The Reality of Dreams

So, at the risk of making it ALL too complicated here is the word according to spook about their part in our dreams. First of all spiritual dreams/messages are totally different to the subconscious night play of our fears and anxieties and we have to learn to differentiate these. Not every dream is a message and unless we accept that we will spend hours flailing around in our own heads trying to work out something that is nothing at all.

We also need to acknowledge at this point that a visit by someone who has passed over in a dream is NOT subject to interpretation. That is a completely different thing and is what it is, a visit by someone who wants to say hello, be acknowledged and remembered.

Usually the 'format" of message dreams is different to 'normal dreams' and generally they come early morning or just as we are drifting off. This is the state of 'semi conscious' if you like where we can be aware enough of what they are delivering to us but unconscious enough to let it flow. Very few of our dreams, whether they are psychological or spiritual are meant to be interpreted literally. I remember once watching a game show on TV and the woman contestant said "I dreamed last night I won a hundred thousand dollars".  She didn't she won $20,000. Her message was just that she would win something not the amount which was literally "for illustration purposes only". This is where we get all hog tied in our dreams and lose the message, we get too intense and carried away with it all. 

Even when we recall the most vivid detail of sleep time spirit messages they seem to be convoluted missives that are representative with the use of characters or figures and not straight up in your face this is it type messages.   The trick to interpretation says my beloved Arty is that the devil is NOT in the detail for a change, look at the overall message.  Spirit will use whatever you have in your head, your memory bank to make the point. This means they don't actually have to manifest anything, it's there and energetically it's easier.

So let's have a few more examples to try and make the point.  Living in a semi rural environment some ten years ago, we had been talking about basic snake warfare which involves one plan of attack.  Walk away! We had also been talking about going deep sea fishing some time soon.  None of that is particularly spiritual but it's a conversation we had during the day in the mortal world sitting on the back veranda.

That night I dreamed I was ankle deep in water and there were fishes everywhere and I was trying to catch them but they were slippery little suckers and I couldn't do it. The next minute a snake slithered up to me and I hit it with my fishing rod, then another came and I gave that a hefty whack too. Then a third came and I picked it up, smiled at it and put it in my pocket! Yikes what happened to "walk away" and "don't scream because they don't have ears?!".

So how did that play out in real life land as a message from spirit!  I received a letter in my professional capacity which I thought was rather strange, I won't bore you with the detail but I realised in the end it was nothing more than a "fishing expedition" by counsel for the other side so I treated it as such and wasn't fooled by their tricky lawyering. In an effort to settle the matter I then received another letter from the rep for the other side offering to play nicely; on behalf of my client we respectfully declined their rules of engagement. Then came offer number two; also respectfully declined. Then came offer number three which was exactly what we were hoping for so we put that snake in our pocket and walked away!  

Get it?  Spook used the conversations of that day about fishes and snakes to make their point. I don't run my business on spook dreams, and neither should anyone else and to be honest I am not sure in this instance if it was spook telling me how it was going to play out or advising me how to play it out? would I have done it any differently if I hadn't had the snake message? Yes, I probably would have lost my nerve and advised my client to take the second offer through fear there wouldn't be a third. 

Spook wasn't looking after me, but they were using me to take care of my client. So I can only assume that the spook who gave me the dream was attached to my client and not to me and had made their way into my space to get the message across.  When you think about it, it's pretty amazing huh?

There are literally hundreds of "Dream Dictionaries" out there, with the various interpretations of dreams; snakes mean a new handbag, fire means you're hot and rain means you're a drip...right? Dream interpretation is much the same as a reading or any connection with spook really, it's hard to prove you are right unless a prediction comes true in the physical. When it is not all about predictions and party tricks it gets harder to discern what's what when it comes from the other side.  Generally if I am unsure of something I get during the day I will ask for a validation or some help in sleep time because when I am semi conscious with one foot in their world the message can't be corrupted by my human self.

Sleep is a good time for spooks to get through if my day has been particularly frantic, they take the opportunity of the slowing of my brain waves to get their message across.  How many of us have lost a loved one and then "dreamed" they came to see us? I would say more than half of us. It's not a dream it's a visit by that person from the other side using the only way they can to get through to you. How can I "prove this?" Well I can only give you anecdotal evidence.

I remember once doing a reading for someone with Matt. I began the reading and he started bothering me, walking from side to side of me, badgering, "Tell her" he said, "She knows."  I didn't know who this woman was but it turned out she was the mother of one of Matthews friends and all of a sudden as if himself had his hand up my back and I had no choice in the matter, I blurted out, "Matt came to see you last night and told you to listen to me didn't he?"  She said that was exactly what had happened, although until that time I hadn't made any connection with Matt and just had to go with what he was telling me and hope we didn't make a fool of ourselves.

There is another member of Matt's family who whenever we visit together (chaos, exhausting but always fun!) if we talk about Matt he usually has a dream that night that is relevant to a conversation we have had in the day. Proving Matt is around and listening to us and validated by his dream state visit.

I often have dreams of people I have never met or predictions. Sometimes I wonder why spook tells me about an upcoming disaster in another country or the death of someone famous? Are they telling me this because I need to validate their presence because it's not like I can stop it or change it. Personally I think it is insight into a far greater use of our communication skills but I am going off on a tangent for another blog here.....back to the point...

Dream state for spook is indeed "the path of least resistance" it is when they can connect with us most easily because we are consciously defenceless if you like. When we meditate our thoughts can sometimes wander and the mortal world gets in the way but when we are asleep they (and we) can come and go spiritually as we please. Dreaming for us is a sort of half way house, a state of being where the human and the spiritual can meet in the middle.

Not all dreams are messages and like learning to speak spook and knowing what are your own thoughts and what are their words you also have to be able to decide in dreams what is the manifestation of the thoughts, anxieties and hopes of the human life and what is spook trying to get a message to us.

Try this, if you have lost a loved one or just want to talk with your guides ask a question before you go to sleep. Remember don't ask for material gain or to manipulate others or I promise you, you will get nothing. You won't always see Great Uncle Henry standing in front of you with the answers plain and simple either. Sometimes it is convoluted and tricky to work out but if the question is valid and the intent is honourable you will get something. If you don't then it ain't that important is it? Or you have to work it out for yourself because we must never ever forget we are on this human journey to learn things from the choices we make and we cannot circumvent those lessons.

Experiments in Spook

Well - this was an interesting one and a lesson maybe in believing what you want to believe. Joe, the "occupant" of the cottage has this thing about moving paper; photographs, notes anything he can lay his hands on. A few times he has taken photographs down off the wall and placed them in odd places around the cottage. This all started when one night, being frustrated that I could hear and feel Joe but not see him in the physical, I left a piece of paper out by the side of my bed and asked him to move it. The next morning it was on the other side of the room! I don't sleep in a barn or with the windows open and so there was no gust of wind that could have done this.

Such was his interest in the metaphysical Arty, my mentor in spook and an absolutely necessity in my life, often did experiments when he was alive. Maybe that is why he is with me now because we share that same curiosity. So I decided to start some experiments of my own. I started with writing the names of those I knew were with me in spook on pieces of paper and placing them squarely within a tile on the floor. The "other" refers to someone I don't know - just in case!

I left these pieces of paper out and asked if those present would move theirs and as you can see Arty, Matt and Joe moved theirs. The interesting thing was when we got out of bed to review our experiment I was a little upset that Matt's paper had a questionmark as to whether it was moved or not as it didn't seem to be that remarkable.  I was disappointed as I had actually seen him the night before. Then, I did all the morning things, bathroom coffee etc and came back to find Matt's paper had been moved much more significantly! True to my playmate in spook, he made his point!!

But was it those three spirit people who moved the paper or just some naughty spook who wanted to mess with me? I always caution people about doing experiments because once you have opened the door to spirit you can cause all sorts of terrible problems because you can't pick and chose who comes through when the door is wide open. This is why we have gatekeepers and must exercise protection, open and close and ground ourselves otherwise we can end up with all sorts of antics that once they have started are hard to control. So when I say "Don't try this at home" I mean it! Seriously unless you are an accomplished medium who can clearly identify those that are around you and eject the undesirables, this is not for you.

So were we tricked because I need to know my beloved spook friends are around or were they really there? Well luckily for me, I can connect with those three in particular rather easily so was happy to hear Arty say "Indeed my dear, here we are!" Matt said he is here for the weekend and will be around more (oh no there goes the vodka!) and Joe is always here because this is where he lived.

Had Arty said to me, "It wasn't us" then I would have shut down the experiment and gone into my spook space to eject whoever it was that was being cheeky with us. I admit we do have a "naughty here". Not malevolent, just frisky and enjoys the attention. Now and again he gets a bit dark and gloomy, so we show him the door. tricks are fine, mean is not and he knows the rules.

One of the things I like doing in my stage show "Hands Up If You Are Dead" is proving the presence of spirit. But if you want to know how we do that, you'll have to come to one!

A decision and a lesson

Recently I decided to stop reading. Well actually I didn’t Arty and Matt suggested I give it a break for a while and concentrate on more human, but none the less spook-connected pursuits.  One of the things that has always disturbed me a little about readings and I am guilty of this too, is people wanting to know what others are thinking and the outcome of situations that I believe should be about making choices for ourselves.  I am terrible for calling Chilly and saying “If I do this is it a good thing or a bad thing.” I am as guilty as everyone else. Even if you have a reading you can still make choices for yourself because all you get from a reading is; this is how things stand now and the possible consequences of other options. It was strange because once I had made the choice to stop “general readings” but not published it my next few readings cancelled as if to validate the suggestion by spooks.  Of course I like reading and proving that spook is with us and a part of our life, but there has to be a better use. 

As if by magic, spook magic you understand, a couple of days later a friend called with a spooky issue. He didn’t want to know about his domestic life, job choices or anything like that, it was about the strong presence of a spook around him and why it was happening. THIS is the work I prefer to do! I read for someone once, the most beautiful person who had health concerns and the spooks attached to her wanted to reassure her that although the problems were real the fears about her future were groundless and all would be well in the end.  That to me was “best use of spook” and the work they want to do too! So let me tell you a story that makes my point; Friend calls Ally and says, “What’s the deal with this spook, I can see feel and hear her but don’t know what she wants.” We validate that we are both seeing the same person and a few other things and then we go onto the warning the spook so desperately wanted to deliver.  Then as I am saying to my lovely friend, “I will ask them to look after you in the meantime,” as a ‘whilst this plays out or we avoid’ type of it contingency plan Matthew says to me “Finally a real job!” Off he went to be with my friend, suss it out and report back. So even he was feeling it and feeling a little useless although he has been a great help and a great laugh in readings, he too wants to add more meaning to the fact he and I can connect the two dimensions.

This morning Matthew reports in and Arty is in his chair and I am told “the blow has been softened, and thank you” and “most” of the crisis averted. The actual incident won’t be averted but the harm will be because the spooks worked their ethereal butts off to get the message through. Sure there is still some hinky news to come and a “situation” but at least we know now that the worst will not happen.

Now the spook who originally came with the message was not a family member or a friend of the person who called me. She was someone who cares deeply about this person because she cared deeply for someone she is associated with and recognised a true bond of friendship. She wanted to look after her close friends friend because in her eyes he is special too. As anyone would do if they were alive or on the other side of the firewall! 

What do we see here? Well we see a “non family or loved one” spirit working to get into someone else’s space to do a good thing, a kind thing.  This also demonstrates something equally important to the expansion of our understanding of spook. They are NOT confined and they have free will too. Spiritual energy is like light or microwaves (to simplify) and can travel, but like light or microwaves you need a stronger signal for a greater distance. Think of it as moving your computer further away from the modem or router and the signal weakens until some kind of booster or repeater is attached to it to make it stronger again. The picture you see on this page is my reading chair. It’s outside and I prefer to read at night when the human energy around me is more still. It’s a better connection.

The spirit, whom we shall call Leanne, made a conscious decision to help out but needed more than she had energetically to get through so then I became the signal booster and essentially made it stronger for my friend so we could get to the bottom of it. I also found her signal, Leanne’s, to be very strong because there was a “need” there and not just a curiosity.

I have always found my best and clearest readings are where there is genuine purpose and not just “where is my life heading.” We control where our life is heading by the choices we make.  So to clarify for now; if you need us; me, Matt, Arty and P we are there for you. I will read for you and we will do everything we can. If you just want to know if your boyfriend is cheating, or your kids will be successful when they are barely old enough to make choices for themselves then I don’t think I am the person for you. Let your kids make choices, support them and love them and spook will too and they will learn the lessons they need to learn. We must get out of the thinking that spook is a tool so we can avoid the lessons in life. We need them to evolve and grow both in the human and the spiritual world and they can't do that if they are told every step of the way what's coming.

I will always warn someone I am connected to if I feel there is danger. Spirit has saved me in the past and I know where they can that is something they will do, but sometimes they just can’t. Treat them with respect…you will get more out of them I promise. So do they.

Hands Up If You're Dead

Well? Are you? Are you sure you aren't dead? Well I have news for you, in a nutshell you are "half dead!"  The human self comprises two parts if you like; our biological self and our spiritual self. Think of it this way. We operate on the human with our biological bits, our tongue and larynx speak, our eyes see and our ears hear. The other part of us which is the spiritual side that is also at work all day every day are the inner senses; when we dream we don't see the images with our eyes we see them with our mind. When we imagine, we don't create with our voice but with our mind. Although a real simplification that is the part of us that communicates with spirit and would you believe it the strongest part of us. It really is possible to get "mind over matter" or how do you think Joe could move the paper, or Matt could annoy me by realigning all the paintings in my house or P slam doors and scream at me to "pay attention!" We don't use ANY of our biological bits for spiritual interaction it is just the bit we call our mind and the more refined senses that go with them. When we die, we don't take any of our squishy bits with us, just our mind and so when we communicate after we have passed over it is that energy that we use. The SAME energy we have now in the mortal to think, dream and imagine! So...now how many have your hands up...yeah well should be all of you!

Well I have to confess there has been no daily spook because there have been no daily spooks.  All has been quite quiet on the western front other than my chats with Arty P and Matt.  Matt has been off doing other stuff for a while so it’s been quiet without him (in a good way I assure you!) and Arty and I are getting back into our groove after the move and all the kerfuffle that goes with relocating.

After a few initial visits to the cottage by Joe I haven’t seen him or Maria

 for a few days either although last night whilst watching TV there was a cool air that kept wafting across from end to end of the couch and I believe that was him passing by to stand in his normal spot at the bottom of the stairs. Yes Maria is the “sit down” lady! I assumed she was a school teacher who once worked at the cottage because it used to be a school and all that, BUT she is actually Joseph McCarthy’s wife and given that they had ten children I can probably forgive her for yelling “sit down” every now and again!  That is probably why in the photograph of the cottage front they are standing side by side as husband and wife would.

Anyway onto something else entirely but that I thought was worth talking about. I got a curious email recently from a young woman who is aware she is spiritual, in so far as she is connected and can randomly see and hear spook but she is having a bit of a tough time and so decided to take it out on spook by blaming them for not being there and letting her down when she was having hard time. Wow! It seemed to me, as fond of her as I am that she and maybe others just don’t understand the principal of spook yet and it can be a little frustrating to say the least.

First up the exchange of energies relies totally on the interactive frequencies of human and spook to be right and if you are mad as heck it aint going to happen in a positive way! Arty tells me it is your underlying energy “type” that makes it possible although I am not sure what that really means. I do know it is not as voluntary as you think on their part either unless they are malevolent, stuck or just a pest!  Second the spooks that can and do come through don’t always have a choice. Many times I read for someone and we will find a parent or sibling and then we will get Great Uncle Harold whom they never knew and then the client is quite indignant that they didn’t know uncle Harold and didn’t really want him there because they would rather have had Mum or Dad!  Arrogance people, pure arrogance. You are not the boss of spook ok!

To make my point; I haven’t seen Matt for a few days for real although I have heard him, I have hung out with Arty and when P has been in she has been all energy and bounce. I didn’t chose that, it’s clear that Matt has stuff to do, P has finished the stuff she was doing and Arty, my well-loved and adored Arty is always there when I need him even if I do wear him out sometimes! Where they are and when they are though,  is not of my choosing, it is the choice of the universe and yet another part of the machinations of the ether that we don’t understand.

Sure we can try and “call them in” but most of the time when we do that we are actually seeing them where they are and not yanking them into real time and space. Other times when we try and manipulate the presence of spook we get a little more than we bargain for as in using ouija boards and the like.The main thing to understand is that when our brain is calm we can see hear and interact better. Such as the early morning messages, when we are really tired or meditating.   It is such a less frenetic flow of energy that it is easier to connect. I for one prefer to read at night and always outside because the energy is much less artificial and it just feels easier to connect and see.  Sometimes there is no connection to be had and that is just the way it is. Just because you want to read someone or talk with spook doesn’t mean they want to talk with you!

Like my lovely friend, it is no use having a tantrum in the middle of the lounge-room floor and demanding their presence and even worse, their help because you think you deserve it! There is a whole dimension out there that we essentially know nothing about, but it seems it is becoming more and more our opinion that it is ours to control.  Sad. And wrong.
