Don't Blame God...Or Me!

Thursday June 20, 2013

One of the discussions I have most enjoyed with my spooks is God. I mean is he a murdering bastard or our eternal saviour because I think we have to make up our mind one way or the other soon or it might start a war...oh wait, or it might start ANOTHER war!

If God isn’t responsible for famine, death, tidal waves and forest fires, by blaming him and saying it is his "will" we are we not overtly declaring we have no faith in him whatsoever? If he is capable and willing to take part in such wanton destruction, why do we bother with him at all?? He's obviously a pig who keeps making bad stuff happen just for the hell of it!

Surely on Sunday our local Reverend is not going to stand up in the pulpit and preach ‘God is love’, except for the times he is wrecking things and killing people? Maybe our need to use logic and reason in response to trauma and loss is to seek out a higher justification. We tell ourselves it is what God wanted, to dilute the inequity I think and quite simply because we can't think of a better reason.

The notion that God traipses the earth pointing a magic wand at people saying, “You can have cancer, you can have a car accident, you can have a heart attack, oh but you can stay until you are really old,” is laughable to spirit and to me. Even if this were the case, if God really was really able to line up and preselect candidates for unexpected, painful or violent deaths, wouldn’t he choose murderers and rapists rather than ordinary decent folk?  Physical death happens in four ways; Old age, illness or disease, accident or because we made the choice to live or die, and until that moment God has little or nothing to do with our exit strategy, and those on the other side and who know him personally remain firm on that.

God made me write that...or did he????

  1. Hey Grant thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I would love to hear why you think it's stupid. I mean, you might be right! They say in science you have to "get it wrong to get it right" so maybe this is where this is going! Discussion to bring us to the ultimate conclusion! Cheers mate!
