The Gift

Yesterday I read something on Kim's facebook wall and it got me started! She's like that! I think if we had gone to school together she would have been the one getting me in trouble all the time! She wrote something about mediumship being referred to as a gift. I countered with something equally as loud about referring to it as a gift, whether from God or free with a packet of soap powder such a statement is arrogance at it's best.

So you have a gift right...God chose you right? You are such a supreme being that God pointed his wand and at said, "Yep, you, you can be gifted. Let's face it you are doing *bleep* all else!"  So in the metaphoric sense yeah maybe but don't go around preaching peace love and mung beans and love all with the tag line, "But I'm more special than you!" You're not!

Gifted used as a adjective, yeah sure gifted artists, gifted singers but this means a totally different thing. We all have something we love doing and things we excel at and things we just don't get anywhere with. Mine is cooking! Not the excel but the "I'm no good at that bit". I'm not sure what I excel at...little bit of this little bit of that. 

Mediumship is something that is within us all, I would defy anyone to say they have never had an experience they can't quite understand or work out. Whether it's instinctive, a dream or a premonition and like it or not readers....everyone has it!  As some people can play music and chose to pursue it and hone their skills, the same happens with our sixth sense and ability to communicate. Sorry gang, but God doesn't single people out for special treatment - he's not judgemental remember!! Get off your high horses and stop pretending that you don't work with ego! 

Finally, as you all get ready to throw rocks through my window; During my book writing period one of the stories I got from spook was this, this is the short version anyway you'll have to read the title chapter to get the full version. Jesus was the first medium, in those times it was seen as a way of him having power and control over people  and made the ruling gentry quite nervous. Rather than  be viewed as something that could instill peace into the world it scared the sandals off them! JC was very much before his time and misunderstood, the very first tall poppy if you like. It was seen as much more fun to take power over the people by war and bloodshed than trying to understand the workings of the universe. So they made up crap about him and killed him.  Then the womenfolk started developing their mediumship skills (note no use of the word gift!)  because it became apparent because of the female position in society they would not be crucified or harangued for their readings or teachings. They were non threatening in a male dominated society because they were not eligible for any position of power or status. They could not become leaders of men no matter what. This meant they could go about their business a little more unfettered than JC had previously and in doing so, continue to spread the word of truth. It's a process of evolution and the social progress of modern man that now the men are coming back into the picture.  No one is gifted. We are all the same.
